Hi, I’m Liann!
If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d have a business dedicated to cookies (biscuits), I probably would have laughed.
I’ve always enjoyed baking, and I’m pretty good at it, but decorating was a completely different story. I remember seeing photos of beautifully decorated sugar cookies online, thinking they looked amazing, trying to recreate them myself and very quickly realising that there’s A LOT more to it than squeezing some icing onto a cookie.
My first attempts were, to put it kindly, a learning experience.
There were wonky outlines, icing that was FARRRRR too runny, colours that didn’t turn out how I thought they would and plenty of attempts that turned out nothing like the picture I had for them in my head.
But somehow, along the way I became completely obsessed.

I loved that decorating cookies was a combination of creativity and baking. But more than that, the people that I love were so kind about my early attempts that I wanted to get better and make these cookies for birthdays, anniversaries, kids’ parties and baby showers as a way of showing love to them too.
And the more I practiced and saw my friends' reactions, the more I wanted to learn.
So I kept going, watched tutorials, experimented with different techniques and learned that you don’t need to be naturally artistic to create something you’re proud of.
That is a huge part of why I created Liann’s Cookie Co. Yes, I love making beautiful cookies with stories behind them. But even more than that, I love the process of learning HOW to make them and that’s what I want to share with you!

Why cookie classes?
When I first started learning, there were so many little things I wish I had known.
-
How do you get the icing consistency right?
-
How do you stop lines from wobbling?
-
How do people get their work looking so neat?
There’s so much you can learn through trial and error, but sometimes it’s helpful to have someone beside you giving you tips and helping you avoid errors, so that you can skip the frustration and have some fun with it.

My classes will be relaxed, encouraging and boatloads of fun. Plus I’ll cut out all the icing frustrations for you (which is the hardest part, in my opinion). You absolutely don’t need to have ever picked up an icing bag before to attend one of my classes. You just need to be willing to have a go!
Because if I can go from those first cookies to these?
